The newly elected Cathaoirleach of Kerry County Council says he fully supports the new plan for Shannon LNG.

New Fortress Energy is to apply for planning permission for a major new 600mw power plant and liquified natural gas terminal on a 600-acre site between Tarbert and Ballylongford.

Last year's Programme for Government ruled out the use of fracked gas; however, it's reported that New Fortress Energy is confident it can source gas from non-fracked sources.

Cathaoirleach of Kerry, Fianna Fáil Cllr Jimmy Moloney says the use of the landbank has been an issue since 1957, when his grandfather was elected as a TD for North Kerry.
