A Castleisland man has been sentenced to eight months in prison on assault and criminal damage charges.
24-year-old Michael Prendiville, of An Caisleán Mór, Castleisland, appeared before Judge David Waters at Tralee District Court for sentencing recently.
Mr Prendiville faced four charges including criminal damage, domestic violence and two counts of assault.
The incidents were described as drink fueled assaults, one of which caused significant injuries to an individual.
Judge David Waters sentenced him to three months in prison for the charge of criminal damage, three months for domestic violence, and five months and eight months respectively in relation to the assault charges.
His solicitor, Padraig O’Connell told Judge Waters that his client had pleaded guilty to the charges and co-operated fully throughout.
He added, that Mr Prendiville comes from a highly respected and exceptional family, but he is a mixed up kid.
Mr O’Connell also referenced testimonials from Cork Prison which outlined his client is an enhanced prisoner and is participating exceptionally within work and training programmes.
He pleaded with the judge, given the mitigating factors not to add to a sentence which he is currently serving.
Judge Waters ruled that with "extreme reluctance" Mr Prendiville’s sentence will run concurrently with his existing term.
