Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost has been elected as the new Pope.
The pontiff who’s from the United States will be known as Pope Leo XIV (14th).
Cardinals confirmed the decision was confirmed just after 5 pm Irish time as white smoke appeared from the Chimney of the Sistine Chapel in the Vatican.

It came on the second day of the conclave, with 133 cardinals voting over the last two days.
The 68-year-old becomes the 267th Pope.
