Campaigners against fracked gas ask for review of a Dáil committee’s proceedings

Campaigners against fracked gas have asked for a review of a Dáil committee’s proceedings, after a number of amendments to the Climate Action Bill were ruled out.

The Irish Independent is reporting that Safety Before LNG has written to 14 TDs and senators who are members of the Committee on Environment and Climate Action, which is chaired by Green Party TD Brian Leddin.

The paper reports Deputy Leddin previously worked for Arup, a consulting engineer on the Shannon LNG project since 2008.

Campaigners are seeking a review of committee proceedings because of the TD’s former links to the project.

The proposed Shannon LNG project would use imported gas, with concerns about whether this would be fracked gas.
