There are calls for a traffic light system through Ballyheigue village to help sort out traffic congestion in the busy summer season.
The call was made by Fianna Fáil councillor Michael Leane, who’s from Ballyheigue.
At the recent Listowel Municipal District meeting, Cllr Leane asked the council how it proposes to sort the traffic congestion in Ballyheigue village before the season begins.
He asked if they could get a stop/go traffic light on a pilot scheme.
Kerry County Council’s response said the physical width of the main street is a key constraint to be considered, and the removal of some on-street parking may be needed.
It said a traffic light solution on Main Street would also necessitate the removal of some on-street parking to facilitate their safe operation.
It said the Listowel Municipal District office will review and consult with business owners along Main Street, with Cllr Leane to liaise with local business owners and residents.
