Safety measures need to be introduced to address traffic chaos outside a Mid Kerry primary school.
That’s according to Cllr Tommy Griffin, who brought a deputation from Nagle Rice School in Milltown to the recent Castleisland-Corca Dhuibhne MD meeting.
The group highlighted their concerns and requested traffic calming measures, and access and footpath upgrades.
Cllr Griffin says it’s imperative that a school zone is created along the route, as there’s no indication that the national school is here on approach.
The Fine Gael councillor said there are 345 pupils and 40 staff attending the school each day and stated it’s unbelievable that it’s not part of the SRTS (Safe Routes to School Programme).
The council responded that Nagle Rice School will be kept under review for inclusion in similar schemes in the future.
