A retired garda has called for an investigation into the murder of a republican informer in Kerry in 1985.
John Corcorcan, who was an informer for An Garda Síochána, was murdered by the IRA.
No one was ever charged with his murder.
Retired Detective Garda JP O'Sullivan from Fenit worked in the state's primary counter-terrorism and security intelligence unit, then known as the Special Branch.
In that role, he worked as Mr Corcorcan's Special Branch handler.
Mr O'Sullivan has now published a book, Veil of Silence, in which he alleges not enough was done to save John Corcoran's life.
He wants an inquiry into how senior garda leadership handled the matter.
His book looks at claims that senior Gardaí may have allowed the father-of-eight's murder in order to protect another IRA informer, the late Sean O'Callaghan.
