A woman whose brother is a resident of a health care facility in Kerry says the HSE should tell staff and residents of the date they are due to be vaccinated.

Sister Peggy Sheehy, whose brother lives in Deer Lodge Mental Health Facility in Killarney, says she was concerned that staff and residents there had not yet received the COVID-19 vaccine.

Sr Peggy Sheehy contacted Cork Kerry Community Healthcare and the Health Minister about the matter but couldn't get a specific date.

She then emailed the Chief Officer of Cork Kerry Community Healthcare, Michael Fitzgerald, who told her staff and eligible residents are due to be vaccinated this Friday.

She says staff haven't been formally notified, however.

Cork Kerry Community Healthcare has told Radio Kerry that its policy is not to give that information to staff and residents in case the inoculations can't take place on that day.

It's running temporary vaccination clinics this week for those over 65 in residential care facilities; but due to limits on supply, it's not possible to administer the vaccine to all staff.
