Bus Éireann is seeking permission to extend and upgrade Tralee Bus Station.
It has applied to Kerry County Council (KCC) to build a single-storey extension to the existing facility at Casement Station on John Joe Sheehy Road in Boherbee, Tralee.
The state-owned bus operator says it intends to reconfigure the building's ground-floor layout to enhance capacity, improve the user experience, and boost accessibility.
A new canopy at the rear of the building would provide an additional covered waiting area for passengers.
Meanwhile, a dedicated guide dog relief area would provide a specially designed, accessible, and hygienic facility for assistance dogs.
Further upgrades would ensure full compliance with current disability access and universal design standards.
Bus Éireann states in the planning application that it believes the development will "contribute positively to the public transport infrastructure in Tralee".
Meanwhile, the bus company is also seeking permission to construct a single-storey extension at Killarney Bus Station at Fairhill to provide a passenger waiting area at the front of the existing facility.
It wants to demolish two canopies to accommodate the new extension.
The internal layout of the station would also be reconfigured to improve accessibility and functionality.
Bus Éireann states in the planning applications that it believes the developments would "contribute positively to the public transport infrastructure in Tralee [and Killarney]".
