The 55th Listowel Writers' Week will be officially opened tonight at the Listowel Arms Hotel, by broadcaster Miriam O'Callaghan.
The opening ceremony will include the announcement of the winners of this year's writing competitions, including the Kerry Group 'Irish novel of the year' , and the Pigott Poetry Prize.

This year's programme of events include writing workshops, book launches, historical walks and exhibitions.
The line-up of guests includes former Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon, writer and economist David McWilliams, and best-selling author Liz Nugent.
Miriam O'Callaghan - who will also be speaking about the launch of her memoir - says she's really looking forward to coming to Listowel:
