Booking is now open for the next event about the redevelopment of the Phoenix Cinema in Dingle.
The team behind the regeneration of the historic cinema held three events last Saturday, in the second public consultation for the project.
Saturday’s events followed the project’s first public consultation, ‘Listening’, which took place in June.
The events on Saturday, titled ‘Sketching’, took place in the cinema’s auditorium; the first was for immediate residential neighbours, and two for the wider public.
The Phoenix team says all events reached capacity with an overwhelmingly positive and supportive response, while valuable insights gathered will inform the final design phase.
Saturday’s events offered the community its first look at the emerging design, with a projected physical model.

It’s proposed to refurbish and upgrade the existing cinema building and extend it with a series of characterful new buildings.
This will provide spaces to watch movies, small theatrical productions and live music, with bookable rooms for local groups, project spaces and artists’ studios.
The team also plans to provide a gallery, a ‘living room’, and a garden for people to gather.
Artist Yvonne McGuinness, who owns the building with Oscar-winning-actor Cillian Murphy, told the event that she sees the spaces as forming a cultural village, linking Dykegate Street to the Mall.
The team’s next event, ‘Proposing’, takes place on 27th September at the former cinema, please register your interest via this Eventbrite link.
