A Kerry Fianna Fáil TD is hopeful that boat trips to Skellig Michael could resume this week.
The UNESCO World Heritage site had been due to reopen to tourists this weekend, but this has been delayed due to the legal disputes.
Fifteen operators have already been approved for landing licences, but three boat operators who were unsuccessful in receiving a license have taken legal cases against the Office of Public Works (OPW).
Deputy Cahill claims Minister Kevin Boxer Moran's secretary confirmed an application will be before the courts early in the week, which could allow the successful applicants for licenses to operate boat trips to Scelig Mhichíl.
Deputy Cahill says the move would allow trips to begin while the court cases continue, and he’s calling for urgency, stressing that Skellig Michael is a vital attraction to South Kerry’s tourism industry.
More than 120 local tourism businesses have also appealed for immediate action, warning the delays are putting livelihoods at risk.
