The Bishop of Kerry has remembered the Pope as a gentle servant, who deeply cared about people.
Dr Ray Browne was paying tribute to Pope Francis, who he said treated all people equally and emphasised the need to protect the planet.
Dr Browne was appointed Bishop of Kerry in May 2013 two months after Francis became pope.
He met with Pope Francis on two occasions, in 2013 and again in 2017; describing him as rooted in humility and care.
