Swimming and bathing has been banned at three Kerry beaches.

Following heavy rainfall last Sunday and Monday, scheduled water samples taken at Fenit beach and diving board area, Inny beach, Waterville and Waterville town beach showed elevated levels of e-coli.

Kerry County Council contacted the Environmental Protection Agency and An Taisce following the high reading and bathing prohibition notices were placed at the beaches.
