Bathing ban at Kells beach lifted with immediate effect

A bathing ban at Kells beach in South Kerry has been lifted with immediate effect.

Kerry County Council implemented a ban on bathing at the beach earlier this week, after excessive e-coli levels were detected in the water during bathing water sampling.

The council said it was probably associated with heavy rainfall flowing across farmland in the area.

Following further sampling and test results at Kells beach, Kerry County Council has now lifted the prohibition on swimming there.
