The President of the secondary schools teachers’ union, the ASTI, has confirmed it's considering an escalation of its campaign against Leaving Cert reforms.
Donal Cremin from Rathmore, says the ASTI and the Teachers’ Union of Ireland are considering a joint emergency motion today at their annual conferences.
The motion could lead to industrial action.
The unions are concerned with planned changes to the Leaving Cert introduced in September.
The changes would mean project work will receive higher marks and fewers marks for exams.
Donal Cremin explains why the motion is being put before ASTI members at its conference in Killarney.
