Applications have opened for the Back-to-School clothing and footwear allowance.
Over 3,600 (3,688) children in Kerry are expected to benefit from the 2025 scheme, announced by Social Protection Minister Dara Calleary
More than €54 million is being provided nationally, in once-off payments to eligible families towards the cost of school clothing and footwear, which will be paid in July.

The rate of payment for children aged 4-11 is €160, and €285 for children aged 12 and over in second level education.
The announcement has been welcomed by Children’s Minister and Kerry Fianna Fáil TD, Norma Foley; and Fine Gael Senator Mike Kennelly.
