Ambulance workers are picketing in Tralee and Killarney today as part of a 24-hour work stoppage.
They are among approximately 2,000 National Ambulance Service (NAS) staff partaking in nationwide industrial action.
SIPTU says that its members are striking until 8am tomorrow because the HSE has not updated their pay scales to reflect changes in their responsibilities over the past twenty years.
A 48-hour stoppage is planned from 19 May, a 72-hour stoppage from 26 May, and further strike action is planned for June.
SIPTU representative for ambulance workers in Kerry, Mikey Boyle, says they have been let with no option other than to strike.
