Almost €50,000 (€48,000) has been granted to three environmental projects in Kerry.
Nationally, over €1 million has been allocated under the 2026 National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) Peatlands and Natura Community Engagement Scheme.
The funding is to support community and volunteer groups in their conservation work in peatland areas and Natura 2000 sites.
The Irish Whale and Dolphin Group in Kerry will receive over €30,000 (€30,375) for its Hook Head to Rosslare Cetacean (pronounced: suh-tay-shn) Surveys.
Lauragh Community Council has been granted over €13,000 (€13,242) for its Community Action for Rhododendron Management programme.
The West Cork/South Kerry Development Partnership has been allocated €5,000 for peatland restoration training.
The funding has been welcomed by Kerry TDs: Minister Norma Foley and Deputy Michael Cahill; and Senator Mike Kennelly.
