There was an almost 20% rise in the number of adults in homeless accommodation in Kerry in a month.
As of the end of January, 73 adults were in homeless accommodation in this county, according to figures released by the Department of Housing.
That’s a rise of over 19% when compared to the previous month; at the end of December last year, there were 61 adults in Kerry accessing emergency accommodation.
In the South-West region, which covers Kerry and Cork, there were 118 families including 236 children, accessing emergency accommodation.
Nationally, the number of people homeless in January is 17,122, is a record high.
The figures cover from January 19th to 25th and were published in the Department of Housing’s monthly homelessness report.
