Kerry County Council has a vacancy rate in its housing stock of almost 3.5%.
As of December 10th, 149 out of 4,283 houses owned by the council were vacant.
86 of these are described as voids, where people have transferred out of the property or where people have died.
Works are ongoing in 43 of these properties, which will be occupied in the coming weeks.
Works are also underway in 28 houses that were bought by the council are require significant refurbishment.
Seven vacant properties are fire damaged and are subject to insurance assessments and another seven have been damaged by oil and have unresolved legal and boundary issues.
