Kerry County Council approved almost 100 vacant home grant applications in the Castleisland-Corca Dhuibhne Municipal District during 2025.
That’s according to figures provided at a recent municipal district meeting, in response to a motion from independent councillor Jackie Healy-Rae.
The report shows as of November 10th last, the council received 179 applications for the scheme within both local electoral areas.
Of these, 95 have been approved, while the vacancy grant has been paid out to 19 applications within the Castleisland and Corca Dhuibhne LEAs.
Cllr Healy-Rae said he’s glad to see the scheme progressing; however, he believes the grant could be more generous, given the increased costs of work.
