All 16 beaches in Kerry monitored by the Environmental Protection Agency last year had excellent water quality.
The EPA published its Bathing Water Quality in Ireland report for 2025 this morning.
In Kerry 16 beaches were monitored by the EPA and all of them were classed as excellent for their water quality.
The beaches in this category are Baile an Sceilg (Ballinskelligs), Ballybunnion North, Ballybunnion South, Ballyheigue, Banna Strand, Castlegregory, Cúas Crom, Doire Fhíonáin (Derrynane), Fenit, Fionntrá (Ventry), Inch, Kells, Maharabeg, Rossbeigh White Strand, Trá na hUíne (Inny Strand), Waterville and White Strand in Caherciveen.
It’s the second year in-a-row that all 16 beaches in Kerry were classified as excellent.
Nationally, 78% of swimming areas monitored by the EPA were classed as excellent, despite increased pressure from intense rainfall.
Just one bathing site failed to meet minimum water quality standards last year, Dun Laoghaire Baths in Dublin where swimming will be restricted this summer.
