A residential centre in North Kerry for adults with intellectual disabilities has received a mixed evaluation.
HIQA inspected Listowel Residential Services in September.
The unannounced Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) inspection found the centre was compliant with six regulations, substantial compliant with two more, and non-compliant with one.
Residents spoke warmly of the centre, explaining they were happy and comfortable, and received good support from staff.
However, the premises was deemed non-compliant because construction had not yet begun on a planned log cabin for one of the residents who needs a low-stimulus space
The provider, Kerry Parents and Friends Association, said site works were in progress, with installation of the log-cabin expected to be completed by end of this March.
