Grants of €1,000 are being made available to Community Employment organisations in the county.
The Community Employment Scheme, also known as the "CE Scheme", is designed to help people who are long-term unemployed to get back to work by offering part-time and temporary placements in jobs based within local communities.
The additional grant has arisen out of Budget 2026, and is available for materials costs.
The scheme supports services across areas including childcare, tidy towns, meals on wheels, the maintenance and upkeep of local sporting amenities and other vital work in the community.
The additional funding has been welcomed by Fine Gael Senator Mike Kennelly.
