Over 520 applicants are on the social housing waiting list in the Castleisland MD area.
That’s according to figures provided at the recent Municipal District meeting.
Social housing units are sought by 527 applicants in the Castleisland Municipal District.
That figure includes applicants who have indicated Castleisland as one of their three areas of choice.
296 are awaiting one bed units; 145 applications have been made for two-bed homes; and 75 are on the list for three-bed units.
10 applicants are awaiting 4 bed houses, while one is on the list for a 5 bed home.
Excluding transfers from other MD areas - 323 applicants are awaiting social housing within the Municipal District.
There are currently three vacant units in the Castleisland MD; of these two dwellings are under repair and unallocated; while one unit is under repair and allocated.
In total within the Castleisland-Corca Dhuibhne MD 1,109 applicants are awaiting social housing.
