The Health Protection Surveillance Centre has been notified this evening of 45 more deaths from COVID-19.

Forty-one of these deaths occurred this month, four in January.

575 new cases of the virus have been notified to the HPSC. Kerry, along with Longford,  Carlow, and Leitrim, had fewer than five cases. Only Kilkenny has a lower figure - zero cases were recorded in the Leinster county.

Kerry continues to have the lowest 14-day incidence rate per 100,000 population. Its rate stands at 44.7, compared to the national average of 240.4. Offaly has the highest 14-day incidence rate at 441.2.

The total number of people in Ireland who've died from coronavirus stands at 4,181. There has now been a total of 216,300 cases.

As of last Saturday, February 20th, 350,322 doses of COVID-19 vaccines had been administered - 219,899 have received their first jab and 130,423 have received their second jab.
