43 people were brought before courts in Kerry on burglary charges in the first nine months of last year (2025).
That’s according to data provided to MEP for Ireland South, Cynthia Ní Mhurchú, by the Courts Service.
It puts Kerry in the top nine districts in Ireland for burglaries.
Dublin topped the table (622), followed by Cork (950), Limerick (83) and Clonmel (60).
33 people were before Tralee District Court for burglary between January and September 2025, two of whom were charged with aggravated burglary.
A further ten were sent forward for trial in the circuit court for that offence, during the same period.
Over 1,500 (1,534) were before the courts nationwide for burglary offences in the first 9 nine months of 2025.
MEP Ní Mhurchu says a relatively small group is responsible for a disproportionate share of burglary offences.
MEP Ní Mhurchu is also calling for a range of measures including more community CCTV, and expanding grant aid schemes for security alarms in the homes of older people.
