A 29-year-old Kerry footballer has described his shock at suffering a heart attack while sitting down watching television at home.

Darragh Roche from Glenflesk suffered a heart attack while at home in Killarney at the end of January.

The fitness instructor has made a quick recovery and is already back playing football with his club.

He said there’s no medical reason why he had the cardiac arrest, which he described as a frightening experience.

Darragh Roche praised the response of his fiancé Tegan who called the ambulance for him when he didn’t want to, while he also said people should be aware of their nearest defibrillator, even if they are young and fit.
