Kerry County Council currently has 28 parcels of land listed on its landbank register.
The information was provided in response to a motion from independent councillor Maura Healy-Rae.
Of these, a quarter (7) are included in the housing delivery action plan, and three are listed as strategic sites.
Kerry County Council says nine sites in its landbank register have wastewater capacity issues.
Site access is to be resolved at three locations – two of which are deemed suitable for social housing and the other for traveller accommodation.
One site is under construction with the remaining lands identified as a site for a school.
Three locations are not zoned residential, one 0.84 acre parcel is deemed not suitable for social housing, while one development has been marked as complete.
The council advised it also provides social housing throughout the county through schemes including turnkey developments.
It says it continually seeks opportunities for social housing provision through land acquisitions for development.
The council advised this extends to seeking affordable housing development opportunities in Tralee and Killarney.
