23 patients are waiting on trolleys in University Hospital Kerry's Emergency Department today.

The Irish Nurses and Midwives' Organisation says 240 people are on trolleys or on wards awaiting admission to hospitals nationwide.

The most overcrowded facility is University Hospital Limerick where 59 patients are waiting for beds.
