20 projects in Kerry have been allocated funding for outdoor infrastructure.
Allocations for the new 'Additional Outdoor Infrastructure Fund', have been announced today by the Department of Transport, with 234 projects chosen around the country.
Local authorities applied for the funding for short term measures to enhance outdoor urban space and improve walking and cycling facilities.
Kerry County Council was successful in securing funding for 20 projects, which is the second highest number of any county.
It will receive almost €800,000 (€793,386) to carry out the enhancements, which may include kerb widening, on-street furniture, and improved cycling facilities.
Independent TD Danny Healy-Rae and Fine Gael TD Brendan Griffin have welcomed the funding.
