140 hours of sunshine recorded at Valentia Observatory throughout June

140 hours of sunshine were recorded in Kerry last month.

That’s according to Met Éireann’s latest climate statement for June.

The report shows the long-term average temperature at Valentia Observatory was 1 degree (Celsius) higher then its monthly mean.

However, the figures show the rainfall recorded in the county was 25% above its long-term average.

The South Kerry weather station recoded six dull days last month, the highest nationally - a dull day is one with less than half an hour of sunshine.

The reports shows Saturday June 20th had the most sun, with just under 14 hours recorded on that day.
