13% of homes in Kerry with have the highest BER classification.
That’s according to the CSO’s Domestic Building Energy Report for the first quarter of 2026.
The report shows over 41,200 (41,267) domestic houses in the county have a BER Rating.
A BER or Building Energy Rating, measures a house's efficiency in using energy, with A being the most efficient, and G being the least.
According to the report by the Central Statistics Office over 5,300 homes in Kerry, or 13%, have the highest rating, A.
Almost 12,800 dwellings, or 31% are C rated, both C1 and C2 account for 10% each, while 11% of units are C3 classified.
17% of homes in Kerry are B rated (B1 accounts for 3%, 5% of dwellings are B2 rated, and 9% are have a B3 rating); and 19% of domestic properties have a D rating (10% rated D1, with 9% classed as D2).
9% of homes have an E BER classification (5% rated E1, 4% rated E2); while 4% are rated F
The figures show 7% of domestic buildings in the county have the lowest BER rating, of G.
The average age of the houses audited in Kerry was 34 years.
