There were 120 patients waiting on trolleys in University Hospital Kerry this week.
The Irish Nurses and Midwives’ Organisation’s daily Trolley Watch data shows more than 20 patients at UHK have been waiting on trolleys every day this week.
It comes as the HSE has advised people to only attend the Emergency Department for urgent cases.
On Monday, there were 22 patients waiting on trolleys in UHK; 14 in the Emergency Department, and eight in wards elsewhere in the hospital.
A further 23 patients were waiting for treatment on trolleys in the hospital on Tuesday, with 20 in the ED and three in wards.
28 patients were on trolleys in UHK on Wednesday, with 20 again in the ED and eight on trolleys in wards elsewhere.
Yesterday, there were 26 patients admitted to UHK without a bed, with 20 in the ED and six in wards.
A further 21 patients were waiting on trolleys in the hospital this morning, with 14 in the ED and seven in wards.
It brings to 120 the number of patients who have waited on trolleys in the hospital this week.
Earlier this week, the HSE said the Emergency Department in UHK is experiencing very high levels of activity with long waiting times for some patients.
It said with this high number of presentations to the ED, the HSE asked people to consider all care options before travelling to the hospital’s ED, including GPs, pharmacists, and SouthDoc out-of-hours service.
