More than 1 in 10 primary school children in Kerry attend a Gaelscoil.
That’s according to the latest figures from the Department of Education.
Kerry ranks 4th overall for the number of primary pupils in Gaelscoileanna, behind Galway (18%), Donegal (12.8%), and Monaghan (11.5 %)
As of the last academic year, there are 18 Irish-speaking primary schools in the county.
The figures were provided by Education Minister Hildegarde Naughton in response to a query Fine Gael TD Barry Ward.
