Up to the middle of the last century, it wasn’t unusual for rural families to eat rabbit. Yesterday, Jerry discussed how there are plans to cull rabbits in Derrynane Historical National Park. The population has exploded resulting in damage to the sand dunes and some protected species. Listeners contacted Jerry to reminisce how they used to eat rabbit when they were young. As a result, Jerry spoke to Janine Kennedy of the Irish Farmers’ Journal who has some rabbit recipes.
