Sheila Kelly and her 95-year-old mother want the find out more about the woman who helped deliver Sheila. She was known as Miss Seymour or Nurse Seymour and she helped deliver hundreds of babies in the Killarney area in the last century. Kerry Today listeners helped to fill in the blanks about a remarkable woman. They shared their stories about Miss Seymour and other midwives and nurses who brought thousands of Kerry babies into the world in an era before social protection, mass transportation, and widespread access to painkillers and many antibiotics. Tim O'Sullivan from Listry, Brendan O'Mahony from Killarney, Bridie O'Donoghue-Courtney, and Kate O'Leary also took part in the programme.
