Jack Kennedy’s quest to be crowned Champion Jockey at the end of this week at Punchestown was boosted with an opening race double at a sunny Kilbeggan on Friday evening.
The Dingle rider hit the 100-winner mark for the season when Master Haku saluted at odds-on 4-11 favourite in the opening race by over two lengths.
He then won on Chanceawetmorning easily by over seven lengths at odds of 5-4. Both were trained by Gordon Elliott.
Kennedy goes into the big week in County Kildare six wins ahead of Darragh O’Keeffe, 101-95, in his bid to be crowned champion for the second time in his career after first winning the title in 2024.
