Michael Carney, whose late father Mike came from the Great Blasket Island, is a retired police detective from Massachusetts and a campaigner for LGBT rights. He is furious with Trump's decision to ban transgender people from serving in the military. Top US defence officials said the ban won't be introduced until new rules are issued.
