This Should be Tralee’s Memorial Tree – September 21st, 2023

When she was 18 months old, Miriam Moriarty Owens was sent to Tralee’s Pembroke Alms Industrial School, later known as Nazareth House, in 1959. Miriam believes a memorial should be erected underneath the tree to commemorate survivors and to mark the 25th anniversary next May of then Taoiseach Bertie Ahern's historic apology to victims of industrial schools. She spoke to Treasa Murphy.
