David Tuohy was one of the wealthiest merchants in Liverpool in the 18th century; he part-owned ships that transported enslaved Africans to the Caribbean and captained transatlantic voyages supplying plantations in Antigua, Barbados and Grenada. His story features in an exhibition at the EPIC Museum on Ireland’s complex relationship with the Caribbean. Catherine Healy of EPIC - the Irish Emigrant Museum - spoke to Treasa Murphy.
