Carla Ward’s side were beaten 2-1 at Tallaght Stadium, despite taking the lead through captain Katie McCabe in the first half.

Ireland now travel to Utrecht on Saturday to face the Netherlands, who drew 2-2 away to Poland.
Elsewhere, Northern Ireland opened their campaign with a 2-0 defeat away to Switzerland.
