Kerry have started the Allianz Football League with an emphatic victory over Galway. David Clifford scored 3-6 in his 50 minutes on the pitch as the Kingdom turned on the style to win by 4-21 to 0-11 in Tralee.

Kerry were dealt a blow pre match as goalkeeper Shane Ryan was ruled out so Kieran Fitzgibbon came into the starting line-up. Kerry goalkeeping coach Brendan Kealy was called up to the matchday panel.

What a start by Kerry as they scored 3 points in as many minutes, Paudie Clifford, David Clifford and Killian Spillane all on target as the Kingdom opened up a 3 points to 1 lead. They doubled the advantage by the 10th minute as David Clifford and Seanie O'Shea sent over. David Clifford had 3 points on the board already and the Fossa man was to find the back of the net after quarter of an hour

Kerry now led 1-6 to 0-2 and they soon went 8 up. 21 minutes in it was the turn of the elder of the Clifford brothers, Paudie, to rattle the Galway net

Kerry were dominant and had other opportunities at various stages for more goals. The Kerry lead stood at 2-10 to 0-6 at half-time.

The second half was not even two minutes old when David Clifford found the net once more

His hat-trick arrived less than two minutes later
The rest of the game was academic as Kerry emptied their subs bench and continued to tag on points.
