A 25th goal of the season from Colm Whelan saw UCD promoted to the SSE Airtricity Premier Division last night.
They beat Waterford 2-1 in the promotion-relegation playoff at Richmond Park.
Defeat ends a turbulent four-year stay in the top flight for Waterford, and there will be no Munster representation in next year’s Premier Division.
