Tralee Parnells Hurling and Camogie Club weekly notes

U15 Hurlers
It is with great pride and honour that I report on our U15 boys’ Féile exploits. They won two thrilling games to claim the Division 2 final and qualify to represent Kerry in the national competition in June.
First up on Sunday afternoon was a semi-final against Crotta in Caherslee, which was in pristine condition considering it was the fifth game of the day there. Our boys started strongly and were leading 1-3 to 0-1 early on, thanks to good work from Conor Reidy and Roibárd Foley, and a goal from Micheál Broughton. Crotta did not lie down and battled hard to reduce the deficit once more; however, our boys stood strong and saw out the win on a scoreline of 3-7 to 1-7.
Next up was a trip to Abbeydorney for the final against Kenmare/Kilgarvan. This game was a very tense affair, with both sides battling hard for a place in the regional Féile. It was a low-scoring contest where goals were always going to be crucial, and thankfully Micheál Broughton produced two stunning finishes to the back of the Kenmare/Kilgarvan net before half-time. This had Parnells in pole position, which they maintained in the second half to see out a historic win. The final score was 2-4 to 1-4.
Hard luck to Kenmare/Kilgarvan, who put up a very respectable and sporting performance. We now look forward to the next stage of the competition in June.
U10 Hurlers
Our U10 Parnells welcomed Causeway to Caherslee last week. There were some great skills on show, both in ground hurling and striking off the hand. Our group showed great determination and fight throughout.
Thanks to all the players, parents, and especially our fantastic group of coaches for their commitment. Parnells abú
Senior Hurlers
Hard luck to our seniors, who just fell short against Ballyduff on Good Friday, losing by a goal. It was a great team effort with some brilliant scoring; however, we were just edged out by the home side in the end.
Best wishes to Niall Cassidy, who picked up an injury on Friday evening. The lads sit in fifth place in the table after four games. The team have a bye next week.
Kerry Group Community Day
A great day out for Tralee Parnells Hurling & Camogie Club in the Centre of Excellence, Currans, last Wednesday. Thanks to Kerry Group for sponsoring such a fantastic event and for the great goody bags.
Players from the U8, U10, U12, and U14 teams spent time on the pitch playing games to enhance their skills, and off the pitch learning about nutrition, stretching, and warming up and down.
Thanks to Amy from Kerry Group, our amazing chaperone, and to Emma Sweeney (CLG Coiste Chontae Chiarraí) for inviting us along.
Kerry Senior Camogie
Best of luck to the Kerry senior camogie team as they prepare for the Division 2 League Final, taking place in Offaly on Saturday, the 11th of April, against Meath.
