Senior hurlers up and running
Congratulations to our senior hurling team, who began their county league campaign with a 1-13 to 1-9 victory over Ballyheigue. The game was played in Charsalee on Sunday morning in wet and windy conditions, with underfoot conditions also tough. The home side started the strongest, getting the opening few scores as centre forward Darragh Reen cut through the Ballyheigue defence on multiple occasions. Ballyheigue had no answer to the blistering start from the Parnells team as they found it very difficult to get scores on the board with the Parnells' defence standing strong and thwarting their opposition. Parnell's went in at the break with a 9-point cushion after Darragh Reen raised a green flag briefly before the short whistle. Parnells came out in the second half with the same fighting attitude, which was enough to resist a strong ballyheigue come back. Thanks to ballyheigue for the sporting game and to Joe Murphy, who officiated the game in tough conditions. Next week it is an away trip to Causeway with throw in at 12 noon on Sunday. Team :
