Tralee Parnells Hurling and Camogie Club weekly notes

U8 Hurling
The U8 boys had a fantastic evening of hurling in Ballyheigue on Monday evening. The boys were very competitive across all their games and showed great improvement. Well done all.

U16 Hurling
Down a few players our under 16 hurlers had a good win against Ballyduff GAA - Kerry yesterday morning in Caherslee. Goals win games and that was certainly the case here, Final score 7-11 to 5-11. Thanks to Ballyduff for a good game.

Féile na Gaeil
The U15 girls had a great weekend at Patrick's Ballyoughter GAA Co Wexford for the Féile na Gaeil finals. The girls were in Division where they played against Four Roads (Roscommon), Burren Ranges (Carlow) and St Patricks Cullyhanna (Armagh) in the group stages. Following the group stages the team were through to the plate competition where they defeated St Patricks of Wexford. The girls were through to the plate final where they again met Four Roads from Roscommon. After leading at half time the girls lost by the narrowest of margins 2:02 to 2:01. Congratulations to the players and management on fantastic performance and on representing Kerry for the thid year in a row at Féile.

Senior Hurling
Our Senior Hurlers kicked off their 2025 campaign with a fiercely contested battle against Causeway at the Austin Stack Park on Sunday. What a game it turned out to be. In a match that truly lived up to the old cliché, a game of two halves, Causeway took full advantage of the breeze in the first half, surging into a 10-point lead by the break. It looked like an uphill battle for Parnells from there. But as they’ve shown time and time again this year, our lads never know when they’re beaten. Digging deep and showing real grit, Parnells clawed their way back into the game, with goals proving to be the difference.

Second-half strikes from Shane Healy, Eoghan Costello, Diarmuid Quirke and a dramatic injury-time equaliser from Oisín O'Brien rescued a valuable result. Oisins goal, buried with the final puck of the game, sent the Parnells crowd into raptures and ensured we came away with a hard-earned draw.

Next up, all eyes turn to Abbeydorney next weekend as the lads look to build on this battling performance.
