Tierney says a desire to become an Ireland player helped with decision to join Motherwell

Ross Tierney says a desire to get into the Republic of Ireland squad played a part in his decision to join Motherwell.

The 20-year-old midfielder has signed for Graham Alexander's side from Bohemians on a three-and-a-half year contract.

St Mirren's Jamie McGrath has become key member of Stephen Kenny's Ireland squad since moving to Scotland and Tierney is hoping to follow a similar career path.
