Thurles Racecourse has closed with immediate effect.
A statement from Riona Molony confirmed the decision of the Molony family this morning.
Thurles first hosted a race meeting in 1732, and has been in the hands of the Molony family since the early 1900s.

It was the only privately owned race track in Ireland.
